Audio Graphing Calculator Training–Postponed

Learn to use the JAWS screen reader to navigate the screen non-visually and to browse the internet. Become familiar with JAWS “help” tools so that your students can perform familiar tasks more efficiently and master unfamiliar software independently. You will also be introduced to configuring JAWS to speak the way your students need.

Mountbatten Learning Systems in the Classroom

Presented by Joann Becker, Humanware & Laura Koester,The Carroll Center.

This workshop will facilitate your understanding of how to introduce the MBLS into your classroom. You will learn how to edit and format documents, create files, emboss files, forward and back translate Braille, use the Mimic to translate Braille into print. Also, we will use the advance commands to access additional applications, such as a new feature for preschool students. The MBLS keyboard may be used to produce musical notes to teach the Braille Music Code.

This event is free, but registration is required.

Training Seminar: BookShare, RFB&D & Your Student

Brian Charlson & RFB&D Representative will be hosting a training seminar on BookShare and Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic at the Carroll Center Technology Center on February 1, from 10 am to 3 pm.

Due to the recent implementation of NIMAC to provide textbooks in accessible formats, students now qualify for free access to the services of BookShare and Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic. Learn how to assist your students in qualifying for these services, to search their online catalogs and to either download or order books. We will spend some hands-on time learning to transfer books to note-takers and PDAs as well as in navigating them once they have been transferred.
