About the Movie
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas, Blindsight follows the gripping adventure of six Tibetan teenagers who set out to climb the 23,000 foot Lhakpa Ri on the north side of Mount Everest.
A dangerous journey soon becomes a seemingly impossible challenge made all the more
remarkable by the fact that the teenagers are blind.
Blindsight Movie Premiere- a great success
The Boston premiere of the movie, Blindsight, held at the Museum of Fine Arts, was very well received by the near capacity audience, including many from The Carroll Center. The film is a powerful and touching documentary that highlights the lives of six Tibetan teenagers and their teacher, Sabriye Tenberken, who along with Paul Kronenberg founded their school, Braille Without Borders in Tibet. Their challenging mountain climb was led by famed mountain climber, Erik Weihenmayer.
After the showing of the film, Sabriye and Paul were available for questions and answers and made a special point to mention the great experience the Tibetan teens had when they visited The Carroll Center. They gained so much from their Carroll Center visit that all said it was the best part of their trip to the USA.
Tibet Students and Stars of Film, Blindsight, Visit Carroll Center

Sabriye Tenberken and five of her blind students from Tibet visited the Carroll Center to promote their upcoming film, Blindsights, a gripping adventure of the struggle and triumphs of the young students and their teacher as they are led on an extreme climb up the north face of Everest led by famed mountain climber Erik Weihenmayer. The students are graduates from Braille without Borders, the first school for blind children of Tibet and founded by Sabriye.
Their visit to the Carroll Center was widely covered by the Boston media: Boston Globe, Boston Herald, WCVB-TV and CN8. Included among the activities provided to the Tibetan visitors was a presentation of adaptive technology, a lesson in fencing to the students, a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts and lunch at a nearby Tibetan restaurant. The highlight of their visit for us was an introduction of the students and their teacher Sabriye Tenberken, who provided a moving and passionate presentation of her successful struggle to establish the school in Tibet and her students’ triumph over adversity.
The movie Blindsights is being shown throughout the world with a special premiere screening scheduled for Boston in mid March.
