“I wasn’t ready to retire.”

That’s what Richard Landau said after his vision loss at age 65, “Fortunately, thanks to the Carroll Center for the Blind, I didn’t have to!”

Through a two-month program here, Mr. Landau mastered the skills and tools to maintain his independence in every area of life, from personal management to communication to traveling safely and self-reliantly. And, at the Carroll Center’s new Technology Training Center, he learned to use a computer with synthesized voice software and other adaptations to enable him to continue his career as a college development writer.

Mr. Landau is just one of the hundreds of people of all ages who are visually impaired each year and served by the Carroll Center’s many programs. From school-age children to young people preparing for college to working-age adults to elderly people with age related vision loss, they all discover that they too can succeed—whether they are just starting out in life or just not ready to retire.
