A Letter to Brian Charlson
Dear Mr. Charlson,
You probably don’t remember me. I am the blind boy (now 29) from Poland who more than ten years ago visited you at Carroll Center and then in your house, to see technical aids for the blind. You showed me OCR, a braille embosser, Braille’n Speak (640) etc. During our conversation you also said that in the future I could even work as a pioneer technical assistant in institutions similar to yours.
After these many years I’d like to let you know that your predictions became true, because I do work at the University of Gdansk in a computer lab, where I teach blind students, how to use computers and other aids. I also prepare books and other materials in alternative formats for those who need them.
I’m simply writing to thank you again for your help you offered me in those days.
Rafal Charlampowicz
