Dear Director Rosenbaum:

I am using the grid I purchased at the Carroll Store and hope you can read this letter of my sincere appreciation of the wonderful staff at the Carroll Center. It was a truly wonderful and rewarding experience for me, and I am truly grateful.

I would never have been able to stay in the course if it hadn’t been for the wonderful healing care given to me by your nurse – the most kind professional I’ve encountered. She is a treasure and a wonderful credit to her profession.

Prior to my acceptance in the Essential Skills Program, I had been very down and depressed because I couldn’t see to complete little tasks – and the morning in the dining room when you told me that I was a happy person and you were pleased to have me at the Center and that I could again be an upbeat person.

I learned so much from the wonderful and capable instructors at the center. And of course our case manager – my talks with her had a calming effect on me.

I would be very remiss if I didn’t mention the dining staff who were very willing to please our tastes and needs; the evening staff personnel at Raeder Hall, since we saw them more often, and the maintenance staff.

I was also blessed with a great roommate – a very outstanding, caring and kind person – we were both compatible since we had similar family backgrounds and values. We had great laughs together and I hope we’ll be life – time friends. I am hoping to keep up the new friendships I made in the two-week program and plan a get together in the near future.

I also want to express my appreciation to the CC Store. I bought some great aids including this grid.

I also benefited from my interaction with the younger students at Raeder Hall – they were great young people. I hope I haven’t failed in mentioning each person at the Carroll Center who has enriched my life by this experience.

Rachel, please convey my deepest thanks for all they did to enrich my life. This is the first letter I have attempted to write since the loss of my central vision.

I thank God for the wonderful opportunity at the Center and my thanks to all the staff that helped and instructed me and to Margaret Cleary for her great patience in helping me to participate in this program.

God bless all of you at the Center.

Sincerely,
Eileen Byrne
