Blindness etiquette 101

Interacting with a blind person can be a daunting experience for anyone who does not have regular opportunities to walk with, talk with, or assist a visually impaired person on a daily basis. Most people find themselves unprepared and often panic, almost insuring that they do the wrong thing. It’s really not all that difficult and common sense still does apply. However, there are a few pointers that most people are not aware of that might help alleviate any anxiety. I stumbled upon Helen McFadyen’s Wise Advice blog today and thought she said it best in her entry entitled Blindness etiquette 101. She has also posted an addendum entitled More Blindness 101
