Preparations are well underway for the Carroll Center’s 8th Annual Braille Literacy Celebration and Northeast Regional Qualifying Event for the National Braille Challenge, scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2008 in the Carroll Center’s Technology Building on our Newton Campus. Registration is 8:30 to 9:30 and the Event will run until approximately 3:00. We’re confident that this year will be a repeat of the hugely successful events hosted by the Carroll Center during the last seven years.
Students are invited to participate in a series of Braille reading and writing contests with their blind or visually impaired peers. Developed by the Braille Institute of California, these activities are intended to provide a challenging but non-threatening competition for students to practice their test-taking abilities and to feel pride in using Braille as their primary mode of reading and written communication.
We are enormously proud of ALL the students who have participated in past years and we look forward to their return at this year’s event! We are also most grateful to our many supporters, donors and volunteers whose energy and commitment continue to make this wonderful event a reality.
To register for this year’s event simply print, complete and mail the registration form or register online! Application Deadline is Wednesday, January 23, 2008.
